Yet another Peter Beard book. "Scrapbooks from Africa and Beyond" (comes with nice DVD with interview) やっぱり、このオヤジ、最高。

またまたこの話題。
美女と野生と狂気と偶然に満ちあふれた人生とダイアリーが、イカしまくっているPeter Beardの本＋ＤＶＤ。
彼に同行してアフリカに行ったGuillaume Bonnによる記録です。
Elle magazineの依頼で美しいモデルをアフリカの大地でフィルムに納めるPeter Beard。 そしてある日、突然怒った像に攻撃され、瀕死の重傷を負うまでをドキュメントしています。
装丁がきれいだけれど、欲を言えばもっと厚く、ページ数を３倍ぐらいにして、彼の若い頃の日記から追ってあるとより良かった。

 インタビューがとってもいい。ひょうひょうとして何を考えているか分からない彼の頭の中を、少しだけのぞくことができます。

 

"It could be that the last thing that remains in the world is the beauty of women. We have almost destroyed the rest, in order to shrink everything , to pervert everything."

 "I'm so unorganized and every single thing I do is chaotic and it probably didn't work for me in the beginning but now I think it does work a little bit more for me. And particularly recently I just never made a plan and it's the biggest break I've ever had in my life. The worst thing that ever happened to me was making those plans. I just don't know how much I can emphasize the importance of luck. It's something you have to really think about."
